Sue Haywood, PT, Kidz First Therapy CEO

Sue was born and rasied in Spring Hill, TX, and journeyed away from this small town to attend Texas Woman's University near Dallas, graduating in 1977 with a degree in Physical Therapy. She first worked in hospitals, and then did home health therapy so she could adapt her schedule to help care for her ailing mother. She next moved into pediatric therapy and spent the next 20 years as a significant part of Early Childhood Intervention. In 2004 she founded Kidz First Therapy in response to her passion to provide quality services that kids need in a well-rounded approach

Sue started the AmTryke (therapeutic tricycle) program in 1989 and for the past 19 years has been involved in the design and manufacturing processes, as well as training therapists around the country in the benefits and uses of the AmTryke through Ambucs clubs. She has worked with Windridge Therapeutic Equestrian Center since it opened and also spent a year volunteering in Thailand to set up a PT department in a rural hospital. She finds it very rewarding to watch kids all over the United States and throughout the world learn to ride and enjoy their "therapy" on the Amtrykes, and is continually amazed watching kids ride and benefit from the horses.

Sue spends her free time working with the Longview Too Ambucs club, who helps people with disabilities achieve all they can in life in many different ways. She is a charter member of New Beginnings Baptist Church and has taught a ladies class there every Sunday for 25 years. Working with children really challenges her to help them do what others say they cannot achieve. She loves to see kids succeed and families learn to deal with their child's abilities vs their disabilties.
